Royal Holloway Centre for Victorian Studies, Tony Jordan, Dickensian, Event 5 February, Senate House

We are delighted to welcome screenwriter Tony Jordan to our next session. The seminar will take place at Senate House, University of London (Thursday 5th February 2015, starting at 6 pm in Room 243). Respondent:  Professor Juliet John, Hildred Carlile Chair of English Literature, Royal Holloway. 

Tony will be discussing his new project Dickensian,  a 20 episode series for BBC which will premier later in 2015 The show portrays “a world inhabited by all of Charles Dickens’ wonderful characters; a world where Fagin from Oliver Twist can talk to Ebenezer Scrooge from A Christmas Carol; where Little Nell from The Old Curiosity Shop shares a bun with Clara Peggotty from David Copperfield; and Honoria Barbary from Bleak House is best friends with the young Miss Havisham from Great Expectations.”

Tony Jordan is amongst Britain’s most respected scriptwriters for television. His many credits include lead writer onEast Enders (and author of many iconic episodes like Dot’s groundbreaking monologue), creating Hustle, and co-creating Life on Mars.
