Just finished your PhD? Write about your postdoc experiences for the Guardian

For many PhD students, it’s now time to fly the nest and join the race to get a job in academia. We know competition is fierce – only 10% of research staff receive a permanent contract – and we’re looking to track the progress of two postdocs on their search for that elusive first job.

If you would like to take part, email claire.shaw@theguardian.com with a brief biography, and say why you want to share your journey with our thousands of readers. The project will last 6 months and require you to write monthly updates on your progress. In the meantime, after the success of our recent careers advice piece, Steve Joy is coming back to write a regular series. Next up… how to write the perfect cover letter.
